Kapeenkoski rapids in Central Finland is truly a dream place for game fishermen. In spite of its wild nature this fishing paradise is easily accessable from Helsinki within four hours` drive and from Jyväskylä within 35 minutes drive or from the nearest airport within 20 minutes.

You will be fishing the Kapeenkoski rapids by the Keitele-Päijänne canal route. This is one of the best brown trout rapids in Finland. Excellent situation between the two big lakes, Keitele and Päijänne, guarantees a rich stock of fish in the area.
The most common and wanted fish in Kapeenkoski is brown trout, averaging 1-3 kg, but each year also some bigger fish are hooked up.
The fishing area includes four rapids: Makasiinikoski, Luijankoski, Kärmekoski and Kapeenkoski. They are best accessible from boat, because in some places the banks are rather bushy, and the deeper slots are found in the middle of stream.
You can choose accommodation of different type right by the riverside, and have meals for instance in an old watermill. At the head of the lowest rapid is an ancient granary village, where you can also stay overnight.

In the Kapeenkoski district you are allowed to fish trout also during the autumn close season. Length of the fishing section is ca. 1.5 km, there are three log lean-to type sheds, ecologic toilets, and a smoke oven. Distance from the parking area to the shore 400 m, lots for caravans near the Keitele canal. Recommended for fly fishing, spinning and row trolling in pools.
