For people interested in fishing throughout the year the archipelago has great places to fish for perch, pike, and whitefish. In the middle of summer sea salmon migrate through the Archipelago Sea past Uusikaupunki towards the north and it is a good time for fishers to be active.
The region has many areas in pristine natural condition as well as endangered plant life, significant bird nesting areas and migration stopovers, and islands where white-tailed eagles nest and seals bask in the sun.
A fisher in a boat is sure to run into a white-tailed eagle and it isn’t rare for a seal to stop by a boat. Isokari and Katanpää on the end of Kustavi are worth stopping by as well.
